Welcome, foolish mortals, to Grim’s Haunted Mansion. There’s no turning back now…
EXTERIOR
The mansion located next door to the Tricou Academy is owned by one Grim Reaper, Esq.
Recently retired, Grim moved his family to the Vampire District of SimCity.
The foreboding and derelict architecture helps to keep out prying eyes and nosey neighbors.
Overgrown weeds and vegetation, boarded windows, and a dark, imposing color scheme just screams, “No Trespassing!”
A lonely hearse carts the family around town.
Wrought iron gates and fences guarded by skeletal sentinels prohibit your entry. Although they live in the Vampire District, vampires are not welcome on the property, hence the garlic wreath on the front gate.
If you are able to make it past the armored guards and garlic barrier, you are welcomed by imposing statues of the mansion’s owner.
An olive tree is planted in the very front of the house, a gift for it’s namesake and Grim’s paramour, Olive Specter. Besides the weeds the olive tree is the only alive plant on the grounds.
Oh, it seems one of Olive’s guests didn’t make it into the mansion…
Some trees were cut down but the stumps were repurposed.
Olive’s pride and joy is her garden.
From her throne Olive can view her handiwork in peace.
No sim can rival Olive’s large collection of ex-husbands and tradesims permanently on display.
Olive enjoys excavating her yard.
All of the flora was left to wither and die. That’s how Grim likes it.
Grim and Olive’s son, Nervous Reaper, spends his time axe throwing. Does he imagine a certain heartless couple that he used to live with at the center of the bullseye?
The old well hasn’t been touched in many years. It is rumored that the original owner of the house mysteriously fell into it and drowned after Ms. Specter asked if the house was for sale and was resoundingly told, “No.”
Some say Old Lady Gray still haunts the well and leaves puddles on the ground as she struggles to get out.
Other items mysteriously emerge from the well as well.
Olive doesn’t really like people using the facilities inside the home, especially the werewolves.
Gargoyles protect the home from bad omens.
The foreboding front porch greets you with dread.
More skeletal guards and a “Go Away” doormat stops you in your tracks.
The black ironwork on the balconies are a trademark of the Vampire Quarter.
This side door leads to the kitchen.
Grim’s mansion is surrounded by guards, gargoyles, and sinister plants. You never know when the boogeyman will stop by…
INTERIOR
First Floor
Entry and Dining Room
At the entry, Mr. Bones greets you and pens your name in the “Book of The Not Quite Dead Yet.”
Olive’s ofrenda is adorned with her dear, departed loved ones.
The walls of the mansion feature ghastly paintings that change throughout the night.
Once upon a time Grim had a pet alligator. Olive made him into a decoration.
Once upon a time Nervous had a pet snake. Olive wanted him for a necklace.
The fireplace mantle holds special treasures dear to Olive and Grim. Death flowers are their favorite. Bonehilda’s key is trapped under glass. The story goes that if somesim finds a way to break the glass, Bonehilda’s curse will also be broken and she will return back to her human form.
One of Olive’s many wedding photos graces the family portrait wall.
The Old Lady gets around.
The Game Room
The Game Room is located through a door behind the stairwell. Here guests can play a rousing game of chess or listen to the latest tunes on the phonograph.
The Kitchen
Past the doorway behind the dining room lies the Kitchen. It’s drab décor belies the devilish delicacies that are created in this tiny space.
The Conservatory
Cleopatra, Olive’s famed cowplant, resides in the Conservatory. Her milk is the main ingredient in the pricey Bella x Bella Goth Skin Renewal skin cream that swears to make anyone who uses it look as though they’re only 18 days old.
The Library
The library is just off of the entry. It’s very small but Grim is the only one who uses it anyways.
Once upon a time Bonehilda, The Reaper family housekeeper, made a friend with a crow. Now stuffed it mocks her as she cleans.
Grim is old enough to have been around when dinosaurs walked the earth. He likes to remember those days.
A present from Olive to Grim, a hand that used to belong to one of her “party guests” enchanted to be useful when he needs the pages of his newspaper turned.
The Secret Corridor
Through a false bookcase is a secret door that leads to a secret space.
Down a rickety old staircase…
Lies Olive’s “Playroom.”
The Dungeon/Basement
Old Lady Gray begs you to “Get Out!” through her hole in the wall.
Olive has many “rooms” available for guests who overstay their welcome…
Olive dabbles in all kinds of extracurricular activities.
Olive is an Atrociously Evil Witch™. She takes a lot of pride in her craft.
Olive will stop at nothing to get what she wants. She spends her time collecting mushrooms, and sharpening sticks.
Necromancy is another hobby of Olive’s. She is hoping to reanimate for old friend Knut Futa. Although, I wouldn’t recommend it…
Olive likes to share her hobbies with her son. She helps Nervous learn the right way to slice open a sim’s stomach without killing them instantly. Toture 101 really.
Second Floor
The second floor landing houses Grim’s organ. He’s actually quite good.
Numerous cowplants were sacrificed for Olive’s decor style.
Once a fixture in baby Nervous’ nursery, the masked Elizabethan Dancing Stuffed Bear now has a home in the hallway.
Could that be a haunted painted of Goth Manor?
Grim and Olive’s Bedroom Suite
Olive’s bedroom is just the way she likes it, dark, imposing, luxurious, and terrifying.
Olive can always find ways to repurpose the many skeletons she, ahem, finds.
Once upon a time Olive had a pet skunk named Stinky. He sprayed her once. Now she wears him around her neck.
Olive keeps laudanum by her bed to help her sleep.
Through the archway is the couple’s exquisite bath.
Why yes, they do wipe their asses with simoleons…
THIRD FLOOR
Third Floor Landing
The Reaper’s pet crow, Phantom resides here. He must have momentarily flew the coop.
Nervous’ Bedroom Suite
After being rescued from the Beakers by his father, Nervous finally has a place where he feels like he belongs. If only his friend, Pascal, didn’t live so far away…
Grim’s Office
Even though he has retired, Grim still can’t let his reaping empire go to ruin. Every now and then he must take a call from one of the replacement reapers because they don’t know what they’re doing. One day, when he’s old enough, Grim hopes Nervous will take over the family business.
The Garage AKA Bonehilda’s Quarters
Olive does not allow Bonehilda to rest in the house. She makes it very clear that BH is NOT a part of the family, she’s “the help.”
Grim feels differently, however. Not only did he add Bonehilda’s portrait to the family portrait wall, but he also spends quite a bit of time with her. Bonehilda has gotten a bit of a crush on Grim as a result.
