Sunday, Day 14
“A Novel Idea”
The modest shotgun-style abode of the Day Care was slightly enlarged to accommodate the influx of new toddlers in Oceanside. Mayor Malcolm gave the Killeens ten extra spaces for expansion which they desperately needed.
After a long night’s sleep Cindy Lou and Angie Killeen wake up refreshed and ready to shape the minds of Oceanside’s toddlers.
Cindy Lou, for one, is thankful to wake up in her own bed. Ever since the space ship landed with the refugee orphans something strange has been happening to her. Mysteriously she has been waking up in other sims’ homes without any knowledge of how she got there.
At first she wrote it off as her desire to adopt a child — maybe she was wandering into homes for the warmth of family that she desperately craved. But as her “sleep walking” grew more and more persistent as Winter dragged on she knew something else was at play. She felt at times that she was going insane but it almost seemed like supernatural forces were calling to her, begging for her help…
Around her wife she tried to put on a happy face but inside she was terrified. What could this all mean?
Knowing how freaked out all of the Oceansidians were of supernatural beings how could she tell anyone? What if SHE was a supernatural… something? Would they still let her teach their children? Would her wife still want her? For now it would have to remain Cindy Lou’s little secret…
As Cindy Lou leaves Angie to finish her breakfast and heads downstairs, the arriving children start pouring in. Killeen Kinder Care now has a record 34 toddlers on the roster. Heavens, how will they be able to teach them all!
The tots begin migrating to their toy or activity of choice.
Cindy Lou grabs the next child on the list to learn how to talk, Aria Mason-Troubadour.
Holly Goodacre munches on Mr. Bear Naked‘s ear. Maybe she needs a snack with a little less fiber.
New student Micah Mippolati enjoys an art lesson.
Antonio Lambswool heads to his favorite toy.
*like, seriously, look at the past updates and this is ALL he ever does*
Another new student, Hiro Yomoshoto, has a great time when he finds the Sego Blocks on the activity table.
Ezra Biltmore shoves shapes in the shape shover thingy.
Kenna Biltmore and Skye Troubadour-Healey hog the fairy treehouse while Poem Mason-Troubadour can only watch from afar.
Poem’s twin Piper Mason-Troubadour found a cool light-up firetruck to play with.
The cool kids, aka Cyan Troubadour-Bossanova, Faith Goodacre, Gavin Biltmore, and Vin Firestone, gather around discussing their favorite toys.
Day Care Queen B, Gwyneth Landgraab, finds a horse suitable for royalty.
Hiro is joined by the cute, freckled-faced Riley Fairweather.
Two more orphans, Butterfly Whitefeather and Jacoby Bond, test out another activity table…
along with Liam Sidebottom and Elise Welchington.
Little Gianna Lambswool is hesitant to play with the robot. She knows how these things can run amok.
Angie finishes her cereal and prepares to join Cindy Lou in the Day Care. She knows something is bothering Cindy Lou and she thinks she knows what it is. CL is desperate to adopt a child and so is Angie. Hopefully they can decide on which bundle of joy to add to their family. They both have their favorites but they can’t agree on which one. Could they handle two? Not a chance, thinks Angie.
Cindy Lou has finally earned Aria’s confidence to begin teaching her to say words.
CL: Can you say Denim Coveralls, Aria?
Aria: Dem-em Caberells
CL: Good try!
Tabitha Landgraab carefully draws a picture of her favorite animal, a llama!
Angie finally makes it to the Day Care and tears Faith away from her play group for her lesson.
Jude Corduroy clinks away at the Magical Mushroom Music Maker…
while Oscar Lambswool bangs away at the normal music maker.
The first skill point earned of the day is Jacoby with the help of Butterfly and Violet Darkbloom.
Roman Firestone also earns a mechanical skill after joining Tabitha and Aiden Biltmore.
Faith is having a hard time learning her sounds and gets a little grumpy because of it.
Gwyneth: She’s so dumb, just like her sister.
Cyan: Uh-huh.
Dude, she’s right next to you! Mean Girls start in preschool, yo.
Heath Biltmore is determined to find the right hole for the peg.
Malcolm Landgraab, the younger, and Henry Lambswool both play with the crazy-eyes bunny head.
Elise, Holly, and Poem bond at the activity table.
Nico Firestone figures out where the pegs are supposed to go and gives himself a hand.
*Activity table besties*
Bianca Lambswool and other hungry kidlets head to the kitchen for lunch.
Great job Eve Goodacre!
Heath: *RAGES!!!*
Sometimes Angie becomes frustrated when the little ones don’t want to learn but she’s determined to get them talking. There hasn’t been a child she couldn’t teach yet!
On the other hand, Cindy Lou is doing really well with Aria. She’s a fast learner.
Kira Yomoshoto: Are you done with that yet?
Cyan: Step off, Glasses!
Faith is finally starting to get the hang of it!
Aria is now amongst the talking!
He doesn’t seem too happy about it, though. 😞
No time to wallow in your sadness, Vin. It’s time for your lesson.
Holly finds her own bestie crew.
Violet is the first one in the nap room.
Miss Angie knew she could do it! Little Faith can now talk!
The potty trained can see their own way to the potty.
It’s getting to the end of the day as more and more toddlers head to the nap room or complain that they need a nap.
Angie tries to sneak in a little learning before it’s time to go.
As the parents stop by to collect their wee ones…
Cindy Lou releases the tots for the day.
Great Plumbob that’s a lot of toddlers!
Angie cleans up the Day Care before heading upstairs…
and Cindy Lou makes a healthy autumn salad for dinner.
Angie freshens up…
and joins Cindy Lou.
At dinner Angie brings up adopting one of the orphans again. With everything going on Cindy Lou is more than cautious about letting a little life into their home. What if she blacks-out while she’s alone with the child and leaves it?, she thinks. Out loud she tells Angie she’s more than ready for a baby but she’s concerned that they pick the right one.
Angie assures CL that everything will be fine. They are both excellent teachers so of course they would be excellent mothers. She does agree that they had to find the perfect child for their family. Over the next few days they would pay more attention to the orphans to find the one that will steal their hearts.
While Angie showers…
Cindy Lou begins the outline of the children’s novel she has wanted to write. With her current circumstances, she thought this might be a way to introduce supernatural characters to Oceanside that were lovable enough that the residents wouldn’t be so afraid of them — just in case she finds out she is one.
Cindy Lou’s novel will be about a young orphan girl named Tyra Thorpe who finds out that she is a witch. She takes a rocket ship to attend a witchcraft school in space which is magically disguised as a large office building. Along with the help of her alien/witch friends Noel Sawyer and Morghan Greenier, the trio solve the mystery of an evil alien cultist that resurrects the God Cthulhu and unleashes it on the school. She calls it “Tyra R. Thorpe and The Cell of Cthulhu” by CL Killeen.
Angie continues cleaning…
while Cindy Lou suffers a bit of writer’s block.
When Angie turns in for the night…
Cindy Lou decides to call it a night herself.
Monday, Day 15
“The Best Little Day Care In Oceanside”
After a long good morning cuddle…
the ladies are ready to start their busy day.
Cindy Lou makes breakfast…
and Angie kills time harassing the fish.
Angie: Blub-blub-blub-blub…
She’s so silly.
Pankcakes! Yum!
Cindy Lou loves how much Angie enjoys her cooking.
Angie hurries downstairs to meet the arriving students.
She resumes her lessons with the young Mr. Landgraab however he’s a little cranky pants today.
Butterfly and Jacoby never seem to be too far away from each other.
*Yep, totally shipping it already*
SEE! I’m not lying!
#stankface
Tabitha returns to her beloved activity table to play with the blocks.
Gwyn makes mushroom music.
Cyan is totally consumed with the pink rabbit.
Bianca snuggles with Moo-shell.
Jacoby breaks away from Butterfly’s watchful gaze to gnaw on a block.
*Gasp* Faith speaks!
Faith: I have a new brother and sister!
DAWWWWWW!
Kenna crawls all over Elise and her shape toy.
Elise: Excuuuuse me! 😠
Cindy Lou resumes her lessons with Vin who also isn’t very receptive. Shocker.
Nico: So you’re saying that if I chew on this it will fit better?
Jacoby: *with a mouth full of wood* Um-hum.
Elise has a hard time fitting the shapes in the holes. Maybe she can magick them in…
Aria is already quite familiar with the xylophone. She plays one at home all of the time.
Aiden heads to the shape toy…
Liam paints…
and Skye…
and Gianna play with the rabbit head.
Hiro’s back at the activity table.
Jude realizes that green is his favorite color.
Violet quietly plays with the rabbit head away from the other children.
The Day Care is jumping. Look at all of those skilling plumbobs!
Piper looks as though she’s way beyond such a simple instrument. Give her some drums!
Bianca seems a bit startled by the flashing lights of the fire truck. Maybe she remembers more of the fire than I previously thought.
Way to go, Vin!
Cindy Lou then turns her attention to Princess Tabitha.
What a stubborn little girl!, thinks Cindy Lou.
Ezra bangs the rabbit head so hard that he almost breaks it.
The Goodacre sisters monopolize the fairy treehouse.
No Butterfly, don’t play with the broken robot!
He did it!
Angie’s next victim is her BFF’s son, Hiro.
*Activity table besties*
The blondies become *besties*
Yasmin Onnen, Natural Scientist, sneaks up to the Killeen Day Care angry although not sure why…
Even though she was a bridesmaid at their wedding, Yaz never really liked Cindy Lou and doesn’t think she’s good enough for Angie, her BFF.
There’s just something about her that rubs Yasmin the wrong way. She doesn’t know why she does it, but Yasmin kicks over their trash in disgust.
With the rash of trash-tipping incidents no one will know she’s the one who did it — she hopes.
Seriously Eve, she can’t go when you’re watching her!
It’s lunch time for Vin!
Malcolm loves chewing on the dolls.
The nap room begins to fill up.
It’s hard to be social with them when they’re playing with the rabbit head all day!!!
Good job, Bitsy!
CL takes a minute to tackle the smoking fire hazard toy.
Angie is still at it with Hiro. She’s determined to get him talking before she dismisses the children for the day.
Most of the kids are already taking naps.
Yay! He did it!!
The kidlets are free to go. Most of them, however, really need to go.
As she walks the children out Cindy Lou gets a whiff of something that smells terrible on the side of the house. When she gets there she can’t believe somesim knocked over her trash. Don’t they care that the children could get sick? Who does that?
As she touches the trashcan a vision forms in her head.
Cindy Lou: Yasmin? Yasmin did this? Why?
She couldn’t believe it but she knew what she was seeing in her head was true. She didn’t understand why Yasmin would do this to her best friend but more importantly what does this mean? Could I be psychic, thought Cindy Lou?
As Cindy Lou went about her chores all of her thoughts were about her newfound psychic ability. If she was psychic that meant that she wasn’t supernatural at all, it just meant that she could feel supernatural presences more than other sims.
That was fantastic, thought Cindy Lou. But then that meant that one of the toddlers from the orphanage was supernatural. She knew what she must do — she couldn’t let anything happen to that child. She had to protect it with her life.
Now, to find out who it is.
After a long day of screaming children it was nice to just soak in a bubble bath and forget your cares.
After her bath, Angie cashes the checks she received from babysitting.
Salmon!
Angie is so thankful she found a gal who is an excellent cook. She never wants to go back to the days of eating burnt soup for dinner.
Over dinner Cindy Lou carefully gets a read on Angie’s opinions of supernaturals.
Cindy Lou: Do you think the Oceansidians would be alarmed if they found out there was a supernatural sim in the hood?
Angie: *chokes on fish*
Cindy Lou: *hopes are crushed*
Angie: They would definitely be alarmed. These founders are so superstitious about anything that isn’t the norm. Just because supernaturals destroyed wherever they were from doesn’t mean they would do it here. Supes are just like you and me — they just want a family and friends and love.
Cindy Lou was so happy with Angie’s answer that she took her to bed right away!
She knew her Angie would feel the same way she did.
She never should have doubted her.
But she would keep the whole psychic thing to herself for now. First she needed to learn more about it — and find the supernatural child.
Tuesday, Day 16
“Parents Behaving Badly”
The calm before the storm.
Yikes!
Angie begins her lesson with the first of the orphans, Butterfly.
Tabitha: *talking!* When I grow up I want to get married.
Bianca is the first to the activity table. I swear she’s going to be a genius.
Eve on the other hand… 😒
Cindy Lou begins Riley’s lessons.
Elise helps Bianca build the Sego blocks.
Gavin finds his OTH!!
Vin: *talks!* Geometry is fun!
Yes, yes it is *tear*
Faith: Hug–
Gwyneth: Don’t even think about it farm girl.
Violet tries to be a little more social today and colors next to Kenna.
She’s painting just like her Mommy. 😊
Jacoby is racking up the besties at the Day Care.
*Activity Table Besties*
Tabitha: …and then the princess fell to her death from the evil sorceress’ tree lair!
Nico: But she didn’t die because the good fairy stopped her before she reached the ground!
Tabitha: My hero!
Piper and Gianna color together…
while Gianna’s twin Oscar colors alone. 😞
Baker Paragon Barrett: WTF, there’s a Day Care here?
Goodness, how many *Activity Table Besties* can there be?
Vin: *talks!* When I grow up I want to take a rocket ship to Sixam!
*Knowledge sim in the making*
She did it!
Angie takes Jacoby away from his adoring fans to start his lesson.
Yay Riley!
*First time I’ve ever received this symbol over their heads…*
Cindy Lou grabs Jude for his lesson next.
Jude and Cindy Lou start off on the wrong foot. First he barfs on her…
then he refuses to speak. Boy, she’s going to have a tough time with this one.
Say it with me: *Activity Table Besties!*
See, this why the parents pay the big bucks — non-stop skilling!
Butterfly is the cutest little toddler in Oceanside.
More *ATBs*
The kidlets start to head to the nap room.
Butterfly really likes the Day Care. It’s so much fun! Miss Angie is so nice, she wishes she could stay here all of the time.
Don’t kill it, Malcolm!
OhMyGuy they’re playing with the rabbit!! I can’t help that they aren’t talking to anyone!!
Shush you! And Piper’s asleep for heaven’s sake.
The bathroom is being invaded by potty trained munchkins!
Jacoby learns how to talk…
and so does Jude.
Time for the little buggers to go home.
In the evening Angie sets up a buffet table for the incoming guests.
Tonight will be the Day Care’s first ever Back-to-School Night. She wants the parents to come down and see the facility and talk to them about the curriculum. She hopes they behave themselves.
I see you Sadie Biltmore!
Cindy Lou and Angie are famished so they grab dinner before mingling with the parents.
It all goes to shit rather quickly when Brodie Mason and Minka Yomoshoto come within two feet of each other.
Cindy Lou: How do you think they’re doing down there?
Angie: Oh, I’m sure they’re fine.
Vivian and Malcolm Landgraab, the elder, sneak in snuggle time.
Minka: *thinks* Oh Watcher, why is he here?
Minka does not want another scene with her ex, Achilles Brook, especially not at her children’s school.
Minka’s new husband, Diego Bossanova, swoops in just in time to save his girl. Achilles is not amused.
Becca Goodacre compliments Connor Firestone on his super clean worksuit. Selena, go save your man from mindless chitchat.
Achilles gets into it again with Diego. He just can’t let go of his anger and disappointment of losing Minka to this guy.
*Enemies*
Minka immediately steps inside the Day Care to pick at her ex Kendrick Troubadour. Really guys, this isn’t how parents are supposed to act!
Brodie: If you got a problem with my man you best talk to me — not him. I kicked your ass once and I’ll do it again, Missy.
Malcolm tries to hide in the Killeen’s apartment to escape all of the poking and shoving. He really doesn’t want to put his friends behind bars.
Malcolm’s biggest fan, Felicity Wayward is never too far behind — especially when his wife isn’t around.
Kent Healey and Matisse Troubadour escape the drama by hiding in the hot tub.
Sadie and hubby Fitz Biltmore are excited to learn what their brood has been up to while they’re here.
Nope, not a marriage proposal. Kendrick stops and sings his praises of Brodie for sticking up for him with Minka.
George Lambswool is super embarrassed for them. 😳
Angie calls all of the parents into the main room to tell them about the facility.
However some parents…
are otherwise…
occupied.
Achilles and Diego move their argument inside and begin slapping each other.
Now that most of the parents are in the room, Angie waits for her wife to join her before starting her announcement.
Cindy Lou, with a dreamy, far-off look and her nose stuck in a book, hurries down to meet the parents.
NOT AT ALL APPROPRIATE!
Brodie consults with her Cup On A Stick buddy…
Brodie: Do I cut a bitch now, or wait til later?
Fitz becomes acquainted with Mr. Bear Naked.
Owen Goodacre thinks now is the perfect time to romance the Mrs.
Kendrick: Give a kiss for good luck, babe. I’m going in.
Brodie: W-wwhaaat!!!???
Angie speaks to George regarding his children’s education. Antonio is tied with Kira at the top of the class! Bianca is a little genius. Henry and Oscar are also doing quite well. George is so proud to hear it.
Achilles asks Cindy Lou how Hiro is doing. He’s very worried about him, especially since he isn’t at home anymore. Cindy Lou reassures Achilles that Hiro is doing just fine and that he’s a fast learner. Minka eavesdrops but tries not to be too obvious about it.
Fitz let’s out some of his aggression on Mr. Bear Naked. 😨
Achilles: Yes, but are you doing any science experiments with the students?
Cindy Lou: *sarcastically* Sure, we let toddlers handle dangerous chemicals all of the time.
Minka: Ugh, Achilles…
Cindy Lou moves on to Felicity to tell her how her wards are faring when Kendrick approaches Minka.
Still pissed about losing a fight to Minka, Kendrick goes in for blood.
Brodie: Kick her ass, babe. I’ma be over here.
Minka’s husband won’t save her this time. He’s too busy staring at Matisse in a bikini.
Unaware of the volatile situation behind her, Angie speaks with Malcolm about his daughter’s nasty attitude towards some of the other students. Unfortunately Malcolm doesn’t give a damn. Gwyneth will age up in the Spring and won’t be a student here anymore.
*Angry Conversation Besties*
And then all hell breaks loose.
Upstairs…
*Cue the theme from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly*
Sadie: This should be entertaining…
You’re useless Sadie.
DING DING DING
The winner is Kendrick Troubadour.
A vindicated Kendrick beams with pride.
Kendrick: I finally did it! I beat her!
And you’re proud of this?
Minka vows to get back at Kendrick and Brodie for humiliating her like this — by any means necessary.
Kendrick and Brodie: *stare daggers*
After the fight, Angie lets Malcolm know that she’s glad they’ve become close. Now, she thinks, maybe she can get Malcolm to pay Cindy Lou’s salary at the Day Care.
As more of the parents head upstairs to eat and socialize…
Diego finds his damsel in distress and comforts her.
Minka then cuddles with Mr. Bear Naked. Even though she has Diego she still feels all alone. This is the lowest she’s ever felt.
Since all of the excitement has died down, Cindy Lou approaches Felicity again to inquire about anything strange or unusual that may be occurring at the orphanage.
Felicity: Well, besides Elise levitating when she dances every now and again, I would say no.
Malcolm: You know Angie, no one on this island is more concerned with the well-being of our citizens — besides me of course — than you. I’m in need of a running mate. Are you interested in being Deputy Mayor?
Angie: *plus plus relationship*
Cindy Lou knew it. Elise — of course! That’s why she was so drawn to her. CL has already spent a lot of time with Elise at the orphange and she was top on the list of the kids she wanted to adopt. Now to convince Angie she’s the child they needed to add to the family.
Minka: Shit, is there somesim behind me? *smile* *smile*
Kendrick: *growls*
Felicity: Great Plumbob, why doesn’t he leave her alone!
WHAT ARE YOU DOING BACK IN THE HOT TUB!!!????
Kendrick starts in on Minka again, slapping her in the face.
Minka: Where’s my husband!?
Then she’s double teamed by Brodie!
Saved by the bell.
Worst. Back-to-School Night. Ever.
Once the parents finally clear out…
CL and Angie go to bed.
Wednesday, Day 17
“Can You Say Mommy?”
Today is the day, thinks Angie.
Angie rises early and gets ready before Cindy Lou wakes up. They needed to decide today who they were going to adopt. Angie didn’t want to go another season without being a Mom.
Today is the day, thinks Cindy Lou. Somehow she has to convince Angie to choose Elise. She is my destiny, thinks Cindy Lou.
At breakfast Cindy Lou speaks up and tells Angie that her mind is set on adopting Elise. Angie sighs and tells Cindy Lou that her mind is set on adopting Butterfly.
Cindy Lou: Couldn’t we take them both? We have more than enough room and those two are like sisters already. We couldn’t separate them!
*OK I know I’m reaching with the two eggs talk bubble, but I think it works. Don’t fuss at me!*
After a lengthy discussion Angie gives in. She loves CL and will ultimately do whatever she wants.
CL calls the Social Worker…
who brings Elise and Butterfly to their new home!
After changing the girls into new clothes they take a trip upstairs to show them their new digs.
But first each girl gets a new hairstyle.
Butterfly’s room is blue and filled with — you guessed it — butterflies!
Elise’s room is yellow and a little more eclectic.
Butterfly can’t believe she has a room all to herself!
Elise is super excited as well. Is this a dream? Has she really been adopted?
Felicity is so happy that two of her kids have found homes, but she has to get down to business with the new mothers.
Felicity: There is a placement fee of §900 per child that needs to be paid to the orphanage.
Angie: What the hell? Are you selling babies!?
Felicity: N-no, it’s the law. That’s how Malcolm Landgraab set it up… 😬
Hmmm, thinks Angie, maybe I will need to become Malcolm’s running mate. The law needs to be changed!
Elise crawls into Butterfly’s room and delicately holds the peach bunny bear sitting up against the wall.
Elise: I’m home. This is my home.
As Butterfly examines the fish, Angie sits down at the desk to write a check to Felicity. All of the anger quickly dissolves looking at her daughter. She’s worth it, thinks Angie.
When Butterfly calls out “Mommy” it’s all Angie can do to keep from crying. How long she has waited to hear those words!
Cindy Lou grabs Elise and begins to teach her how to talk. Cindy Lou is very emotional but is trying to hold it together.
Angie plops down next to her and teaches Butterfly a nursery rhyme.
Elise: Mommy!
Finally, clear as day, Elise calls Cindy Lou “Mommy!” *tear*
The Killeens: *bond*
Felicity: I wish I was married to Malcolm Landgraab…
Elise quickly learns how to talk!
Next up — potty training.
Felicity grabs a drink from the bar and sits down. She knows she should be happy for Butterfly and Elise — this is what her job is — but instead she feels a bit melancholy.
Maybe it was the happiness of the families coming together — a feeling she knows she will never have if she stays a Social Worker.
After learning a nursery rhyme…
Angie begins potty training Butterfly.
Felicity: *thinks* Maybe I should just quit and adopt my own kids.
CL wonders if Felicity is OK. She’s not her usual chipper self.
Cindy Lou begins a celebratory dinner for her new family and Felicity.
The girls devour their first solid meal, Goopy Carbonara!
Cindy Lou thinks she knows what’s bothering Felicity.
Cindy Lou: Ang, we need to introduce Felicity to some of the eligible guys in Oceanside!
Elise and Butterfly are so patient and do not cause a fuss when they’re done and ready to be put down. 😊
Angie grabs Elise…
and lays her down for the night.
Butterfly: Miss Felicity’s sad…
Awwwwww!
Next it’s Butterfly’s turn for bed.
Cindy Lou: Good night, Boo Boo.
Angie’s not too sure she should introduce Felicity to any of the guys in town. Angie kind of fancies her for herself.
Cindy Lou feels a tinge of regret not telling Angie the real reason she was so adamant about adopting Elise. Just because you can tolerate supernatural sims doesn’t mean you want to raise one. One day she will have to tell her — before Elise’s powers start to manifest — but not today.
Today was a perfect day. She doesn’t want to ruin it.
Notes
- I chose Butterfly and Elise to be adopted by Angie and Cindy Lou because Angie had the highest score with Butterfly and Cindy Lou had the highest score with Elise. I originally only wanted them to adopt one child but I couldn’t choose between the two! And since two additional kids have moved into the Orphanage (the Yomoshoto kids) I thought it best to have two move out.
- I did not have Butterfly and Elise “put up for adoption” and then had the Killeens “call to adopt” because I was afraid the children would lose their memories. Instead I used Simblender to move them in, added to the family, and made Angie and Cindy Lou their parents. The kids no longer have family ties to Felicity. Unfortunately this does not fill the “Have a baby” want so I manually fulfilled it.
Credits
That’s the end of Winter, folks!! Thank you for reading!! ^.^
