Business Lots must be owned by a playable sim. Once a sim dies that property can be sold back to the city or passed down to a descendant. Community lots, such as parks, can either be owned by the Treasurer or owned by the City. Business lots, such as a clothing store, are owned by whichever sim unlocked that particular lot. Every community and business lot earns 1 CAS sim to be added to the town. Business lots must be played at least once during the owner’s rotation. Business lots cannot be built until after the 1st season. A sim cannot own a second business until they reach Rank 5 in their first business (unless the business is government owned, like a Fire Station, or tax exempt, like the Country Club). Below is a list of lots that need to/can be created pertaining to careers and hobby enthusiasm.
Aquarium – built when the Oceanography career is unlocked.
Art Gallery – built when a sim becomes a Conceptual Artist (Artist lvl 9).
Auditorium – built after a sim reaches Concert Pianist (Music lvl 8).
Auto Repair Shop – similar to Car Dealership. Unlocked after sim fully restores a car.
Architectural Firm – built after a sim reaches Architect (Architecture lvl 7).
Bank – built after 1st season rotation. Owned by Treasurer.
Bar – built when the Music career is unlocked.
Beauty Salon – available to sims with a gold badge in Cosmetology (from the Ug-No-More Makeover Station).
Bookstore – available to any sim with maxed Film & Literature hobby.
Boxing Club (Gym) – available to any sim who has won 3 fights and has 5 or more fitness enthusiasm.
Car Dealership – built after a sim fully restores a car and opens this business. Cars can only be bought at the dealership.
Cemetery – built after the 1st sim dies. Cemetery will be named in their honor. Death Day can now be celebrated. Owned by the Treasurer.
Church – built when the Priest career is unlocked.
Circus – built when the Entertainment career is unlocked.
City Hall – built after a sim reaches City Council Member (Politics lvl 5). Certain careers will earn an office in the City Hall at lvl 10 meaning they are a member of the City Council and respected around the town.
Clothing Store – built when the Fashion Design career is unlocked.
Club – built when the Music career is unlocked.
Coffee Shop – built when the Music career is unlocked.
Comic Book Store – Look, up in the sky! It’s Captain Hero! Now that the world has super heroes and super villains, someone has to tell their story. Unlocked after a sim reaches Captain Hero (Law Enforcement lvl 10) or Criminal Mastermind (Criminal lvl 10), the Comic Book Artist (Artist lvl 4) can open up shop.
Construction Company – built after a sim reaches Head of Construction Company (Architect lvl 4).
Corporate Office – built after a sim reaches Junior Executive (Business lvl 4).
Courthouse – built after a sim reaches Judge (Politics lvl 8).
Criminal Warehouse – built after sim reaches Smuggler (Criminal lvl 9).
Cult Compound – built after a sim reaches Cult Leader (Paranormal lvl 10). Can also be it’s own sub-hood.
Dance Studio – built when the Dance career is unlocked.
Daycare Center – built when Daycare Provider career is unlocked.
Film/Movie Studio – built when the Show Business career is unlocked.
Fire Station – built after the Fire Fighter career is unlocked.
Florist Shop – available to any sim with a gold badge in Flower Arranging.
Grocery Store – available to Farmer sims.
Gym – available to a sim with maximum Fitness hobby enthusiasm.
Hospital – built after a sim reaches Intern (Medicine lvl 4).
Internet Cafe – built when the Gamer Career is unlocked.
Laboratory – built when the Science Career is unlocked.
Law Firm – built after sim reaches Personal Injury Attorney (Law lvl 6).
Movie Theater – available to any sim with maxed Film & Literature hobby.
Natural Science Museum – built when Natural Science career is unlocked.
Newspaper/Magazine Office – built after a sim reaches Magazine Editor (Journalism lvl 9).
Orphanage – built for Social Worker.
Pet Rescue Shelter – built for Animal Rescuer (Animal Care lvl 6)
Pet Store – built when a sim reaches Pet Store Clerk (Animal Care lvl 2)
Police Station – built when a sim reaches Patrol Officer (Law Enforcement lvl 3).
Post Office – built after NPC Mail Carrier becomes a playable sim.
Pottery Shop – available to any sim with a gold badge in Pottery.
Primary School – built when the first founder’s child reaches childhood. Owned by Teacher sim.
Prison – built for Prison Warden.
Private School – available for Education Minister (Education lvl 10). Private School is child and teen. Parents whose children attend Private School have to pay §100 per child per day they are in school.
Recording Studio – available when the Music career is unlocked.
Restaurant – built after the Culinary career is unlocked.
Robot Store? Factory? Company? – available to a sim with a gold badge in Robotics.
Secondary School – built when the first founder’s child reaches teenhood. Owned by Teacher sim.
Simitarium – built for Therapist.
Software Company – built when a sim reaches Game Designer (Gamer lvl 10).
Stadium – built when a sim reaches Starter (Athletic lvl 4).
Toy Store – available to a sim with a gold badge in Toy Making.
Woohoo House – built for Woohoo Worker.
Zoo – built when a sim reaches Zoo Keeper (Animal Care lvl 7)
